Yet another fantastic training camp complete in Mexico at the International Sailing Academy! The focus this week was downwind speed and strategy. Six days of on water training focused strictly on downwinds. This time of year, Banderas Bay has a typical building sea breeze, perfect for towing up wind and coming down the bay with a building breeze. This enables the group to practice downwind techniques starting from 5 knots and building to 18 knots.I made huge gains this week in my downwinds! Downwinds have been a weakness of mine and I’m working hard to turn it into a strength.Currently writing this post from the airplane, no better place than to get work done. Touching down in cold Toronto, and I’ll be focusing on gym training, nutrition and using my new hiking bench! Next stop: Medemblik, HollandStay tuned.
